To cope with the global challenges of to day the high cost countries have several ways to go. The obvious one is to take advantage of the possibility to optimize products and/or manufacturing processes - in order to take time and money out of the products. This can be done by automation or robotics in production systems with special reference to individual and flexible volume production. To realize this in practice intelligent production is needed.
A key role in intelligent production and ongoing optimization is the use of sensors of different kinds, which can follow and monitor the processes. A combination of sensors, network and computer power offers "online" - "real time" monitoring and automatic reaction if needed. This solution is in many cases better than human control in relation to capacity, security, speed, price etc.
The conference aims to give a "Global" status of Sensor Networks - including an idea of the development in the near future as well - presented by leading specialists. Another focal point is networking among the participants. Therefore the Arrangement "is built " in two steps: First a late afternoon and evening session on the 19th March with presentation of the national scene, giving both our foreign guests and the Danish participants a possibility to get an updated national state of the art on the domestic scene. After two national presentations a dinner is arranged. The session March 20 comprises international presentations in the morning and a number of national case-oriented presentations in the afternoon.
The target audience is expected to be decision makers from the fields of application and development of sensor systems for production and/or products. Both researchers and users are expected to get inspiration and knowledge from the presentations.
